This is my first post since I have retired. Man, what a leap. I must get into a regular rhythm of doing what needs to be done. I'm going to be starting my business Sahmsations. But for right now, I just want to relax and enjoy not needing to get up early or worry about work.

Small Business Workshops

I attended 5 weeks worth of small business workshops. I learned a lot but the workshops were painful.  I do training as part of my job and there is nothing worse then having a poor trainer. I'm sure that the three people who did these workshop were very knowledgeable, but they sure couldn't present.  Can you imagine looking at a PowerPoint presentation from the six slides/page handout?  Yes, the presenter never turned on the computer.  Painful!!!!

There were a lot of handouts and all of the forms I need to complete to officially open the business.  My concern is what type of business do I want?   My goal is to make enough money to buy more supplies and maybe a small profit.  I have many ideas about what I want to do, but I still haven't made any major decisions. It looks like I'll do a LLC when I get this started.

The presenter in the Marketing workshop didn't like the title of my future business - Sahmsations.  I know it doesn't tell you anything about the business, but how about this tag -  Sahmsations - Quality handmade cards and gifts.  I already have the domain name for my web site, so I think I'll stick with it.  Besides, wouldn't you want an original Sahmsation creation???

Time to get this Blog going!

Here I am, getting this blog up and running.  My goal is to post my journey of getting my small handmade craft business started.  This business has been a thought of my for quite a few years.  With retirement looming close, I need something to do after I'm not working in Instructional Technology.   So I'm planning on opening a business that I can sell my handmade crafts. The bulk of my inventory will be handmade cards, but I would like to include other handmade articles that I have made.  I'm going to blog what I have to do or what I have already done to become a business owner!   Check back regularly and I will try to chronicle my journey.
